We are proud to announce that BlakYaks has been certified as a Great Place to Work® for 2022/23. The GPTW certification marks companies based on what employees say about their company culture and place of work and BlakYaks scored an astonishing 99% on the Trust Index™.

Why now?

As a fast-growing company, we found in Great Place to Work® an insightful tool to measure the overall experience of the team working at BlakYaks. We wanted to give our team the opportunity to provide anonymous feedback regarding their experience of working at BlakYaks.   

The process to get Certified starts with the team responding to a Trust Index© Survey provided by Great Place to Work®, which measures their perception and opinions of the workplace and company culture.  

This is followed by a Culture Audit©, which is completed by the leadership and management team and then evaluated by an independent Great Place to Work® team.  The two survey scores are combined to provide a total score, with the Trust Index accounting for two-thirds of the final results. 


For us, it is all about being one herd

This is the first time that BlakYaks joins the Great Place to Work® program and we are really happy with the result, which is proof of the leadership’s commitment to employee wellbeing. 

Thanks to the Survey responses of the team, BlakYaks achieved a whopping 99% average of all Great Place to Work® survey statements, and a 100% in the statement “Taking everything into account, I would say this is a great place to work” which demonstrates how our team feels working here. 

We also received high marks on other key Trust Index questions, including: 

  • Camaraderie, which measures employees’ sense of enjoyment in the workplace by assessing the level of intimacy they experience, the freedom they feel to express themselves, the sense of hospitality in the workplace environment and the extent to which people feel they are members of a community. 

  • Team, which measures the pride that employees develop in their team, the team’s accomplishments, and their willingness to give extra for the benefit of the team. 

  • Hospitality, which measures the extent to which employees feel the work environment is friendly and welcoming and they can have fun and enjoy each other’s company. 

  • Intimacy, which measures people’s enjoyment of their colleagues, their sense that they can be themselves, and that they can count on and support each other.

Final thoughts

Moving forward, the GPTW process will help shape our future approach to employee benefits. We recently added Private Insurance and Life Assurance to our standard Benefits package, however, with the new insights we gained from the survey, we will be looking into offering new and more diverse benefits tailored to our team’s wishes. 

In conclusion, the certification process was very straightforward and has delivered huge value to the BY business by providing a way to measure team satisfaction and happiness. The level of feedback and openness from the Yaks was excellent, and the results are a testament to our ongoing commitment to empowering our people and supporting them to explore and reach their full potential.

Integrity and transparency are key pillars of our culture, and we aim to continue building a meaningful workplace where our Yaks can take pride in their work while focusing on their personal growth and achieving personal fulfillment.

Lastly, we would like to thank the team who makes BlakYaks such a great place to work. We could not be prouder of what our Yaks have accomplished this year and we are looking forward to continuing to build a great culture in 2023.
